The House of Representatives has approved lawmakers' participation in a three-day capacity-building workshop to strengthen legislative performance and improve parliamentary work.
The workshop, organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, is scheduled for June 25 to June 27, 2026. KAS is a political foundation that supports democratic governance, political dialogue, and institutional development.
The House reached the decision after reviewing a communication sent to Speaker Richard Koon by Dr. Stefanie Brinkel, Resident Representative of KAS and Director for Political Dialogue in West Africa.
According to a June 16 press release from the House Press Bureau, Dr. Brinkel proposed an interactive and practice-oriented training program tailored for members of the House of Representatives.
She said the workshop aims to equip lawmakers with practical tools, applied knowledge, and strategic insight needed to improve their legislative work.
The program also seeks to strengthen individual skills and build the institutional capacity of the Legislature.
The training comes at a time when public attention remains focused on the Legislature's performance, including lawmaking, oversight, representation, transparency, and accountability.
The workshop is expected to provide lawmakers with practical experience and stronger skills to help them fulfill their constitutional duties and support better governance in Liberia.
